Lemle & Wolff Group of Companies
The four entities that comprise Lemle & Wolff group of companies are fully integrated and operate primarily within the affordable housing industry. The companies offer services that include real estate development, construction, property management and maintenance. Lemle & Wolff’s portfolio consists of about 300 buildings in New York City.
Within the group of companies, I fulfilled many roles including Finance Director and Asset Manager and performed/oversaw various tasks. I directly managed a staff of 5. My role naturally progressed to include operational leadership functions.
Lemle & Wolff Construction Corp - Director of Finance
Improved the forecasting of revenues & expenses and began projecting cash flows, including retainage considerations and debt pay-off.
Introduced a system of timekeeping and staff utilization in order to incorporate internal labor costs into project costs.
Created a project template for consistent and timely project setup.
Alltype Maintenance Corp – Director of Finance
Performed profitability analyses by job type which led to the introduction of an overhead multiplier, pricing updates, and both the discontinuance of unprofitable job types as well as recognition of new revenue streams.
Created a system of analyzing inventory in order to begin tracking inventory.
Reorganized the chart of accounts and created timesheet templates for labor analysis which uncovered the existence of under-utilized staff.
Addressed labor compliance considerations.
Lemle & Wolff, Inc. Property Management - Asset Manager & Operations
Created a new department for complying with municipal registrations and physical compliance which included reassigning staff, creating tracking databases, and ultimately prevented building violations from accumulating.
Served as Asset Manager, monitoring the finances of half the companies’ building portfolio, and served as the main point of contact for property syndicators, developers, auditors, and not-for-profit owners.
Lemle & Wolff Development - Finance Lead
Served as a liaison between Development & Construction companies to ensure correct allocation of soft & hard cost sourcing by tracking development budgets and schedules through all phases of projects.
General & Inter-company – Various Roles
Provided financial information for insurance renewals and audits.
Sales tax return preparation for various entities and types.
Instituted, designed, and led a series of Microsoft Excel / Outlook trainings for internal staff.
Created flowcharts of various inter-company functions for firms’ owners to better understand operational functions
Diller Scofidio + Renfro is a world renowned architecture and design studio that focuses on cultural and institutional projects on an international scale. As Finance Director, I worked very closely with the firm’s owners and leaders to ensure the continued success and longevity of the firm’s high-profile design operations.
Successfully managed all functions of the Finance Department, serving four interrelated architecture & design firms.
Reported to and made recommendations directly to the firms’ owners.
In-depth analyses included cash flow, profitability, forecasting, tax planning, firm valuation.
Budgeting included the corporate level (salaries, job mix), individual project level (staffing, consultants, scheduling), and department level (IT, travel, supplies).
Spearheaded the startup of the U.K.-based subsidiary in terms of banking, insurance, corporate charter, legal, labor and immigration considerations.
Completed an accounting database merge for streamlined processing, reporting and intercompany transactions.
Overhauled the firms’ charts of accounts and financial statements.
Participated in operational areas of legal, H.R., I.T., contracts, compliance, insurance.
Treasury functions included international transactions & foreign exchange as well as creating and maintaining banking relationships.
Audits included the 401K plan, workers compensation insurance and internal controls.
CTA Architects is an architectural firm that operates in the New York City metro area and focuses on exterior restoration and historic preservation of existing building stock, as well as educational facilities. My role with the firm grew from Bookkeeper to Controller in a few years’ time.
General oversight of all accounting functions, including AP, AR, banking, record keeping, chart of accounts, payroll.
Prepared and presented financial reports and internal financial calculations to the firm’s owners.
Worked with project leaders in regards to project-level budgeting and profitability.
Hosted quarterly software ‘users group’ meetings with other industry software users in the region (Deltek Ajera).
Created contract proposals for municipal projects, having successes with agencies such as CUNY, NYCHA, NYS OGS; also participated in general marketing efforts.
Firm was selected to be part of PSMJ’s “Circle of Excellence” for its sustainable financial management practices.

In a more junior role, I served as Project Accountant for Rafael Vinoly Architects. It is here that I became passionate about the architecture industry while learning the ins and outs of various projects.
District of Columbia Superior Court
Just out of college, and before obtaining my Master's Degree, I worked at the DC Superior Court as a Courtroom Clerk. At a quick glance, this experience may not seem material to the rest of my experience, but it is here that I became familiar with legal concepts and proceedings. This information has proven very important in many areas of my professional life.
